Dr Khan – Dentist/Owner
Dr. Khan was born and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland where she attended the nearby Eleanor Roosevelt High School. Dr Khan graduated from University of MD, College Park with a BS in Physiology and Neurobiology. She then fulfilled her dream of becoming a dentist and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of MD, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery.
She has years of experience working with children and attended a Pediatric Dentistry Mini Residency program.
Dr Khan began Smile Rx Dental in 2012 with a vision to provide holistic quality dental care and create a lifelong trusting relationship with her patients.
She was voted Best Bowie Dentist in Readers Choice, Bowie Blade Newspaper for 2019 and 2020!
She has incorporated Holistic Dentistry as part of her practice and loves to learn about natural, alternative and complementary medical and dental treatments. She continues to research and take continuing education courses on various subjects to keep up with changes in dentistry.
Dr. Khan resides in Bowie, MD with her family. She is married and has two sons. In her spare time, she is taking care of her household and loves to go biking and hiking.
Dr Khan’s Community Service/Humanitarian work
- Operation Smile Vietnam- providing free dental services for patients in Vietnam
- Various Health Fairs around the Bowie region
- Bowie Senior center volunteer – offering free dental consults for seniors for 2 years
- Health Department Dentist- dentist for underserved population working with solely medicaid patients. Going on mobile vans providing dental work for pre school children for 5 years
- Teaching Dental Hygiene in Moroccan orphanage
- Adopting a child
- Dr Khan adopted her youngest son from an orphanage in Morocco. She always had it in her heart to make a difference and what better way than to make a child your own and give them a future they deserve. Once she had the financial means and ability, she embarked on a 2.5 year journey of paperwork and challenges and finally brought her son home!
Dr Kumar – Dentist
Dr Kumar was born and raised in Prince George’s County, MD. She received her bachelors degree in General Biology from University of Maryland, College Park, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
She then received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of MD, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. She was accepted into the pediatric clerkship program, where she received extra hands-on training working with children.
She has been practicing at Smile Rx Dental for several years and looks forward to providing gentle, quality dentistry for our wonderful patients.
Asma
Asma is a friendly and competent x -ray certified dental assistant who really enjoys her career in dentistry. You will find her to be very calm, pleasant and gentle. She aspires to be a dental hygienist and is taking courses to pursue and develop her career path.
